Ladies and Gentlemen! It has been almost four years since your tweets have been displayed in Google’s search results. Google just announced on 19 May, 2015 that tweets from Twitter will now show up in Google’s organic search results. (Read the press releases here: ‘Google’ http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2015/05/tweets-take-flight-in-google-app.html ‘Twitter’ https://blog.twitter.com/2015/a-new-way-to-discover-tweets)
Some may be wondering why this deal has occurred. An article in Adweek reports:
With the new content sharing deal and a new advertising partnership, Google and Twitter are teamed up against an increasingly powerful Facebook. Twitter recently opened its ad inventory to brands that buy through Google’s exchange. The partnership gives advertisers a way to use the search giant’s technology for more effective—and more relevant—marketing on Twitter. (Adweek, 19 May, 2015, source)
The general feel by most in the tech industry is that this deal is a good move for both companies as it gives the entire marketing industry a “new resource” in getting their content in front of more eyes. Ultimately, the same rules apply when it comes to SEO; write great content, regularly, and share it through the appropriate social media outlets. Slow and steady wins the race. Don’t try to trick search engines, because they are much smarter than they were in the early 2000’s. Do things right and you will go far.
